The month-long Dubai Shopping Festival (usually held in January/February), which has been in operation since 1996, attracts over 3 million visitors each year. A shopaholic's paradise, this shopping and entertainment extravaganza offers impressive discounts, raffles for magnificent prizes such as luxury cars and bars of gold, spectacular street theatre, fireworks, as well as magnificent closing ceremonies. Business conventions, seminars, exhibitions and sporting events are run in conjunction with the Festival.

Dubai Summer Surprises takes place in the hotter months of June and July but most events are held indoor with the major malls vying with each other to entice shoppers to their venues. Divided into themes named 'Surprises', family entertainment is a key focus of this festival. Competitions with spectacular prizes are also a feature

Abu Dhabi Shopping Festival (usually held in March) has its own unique atmosphere with fun and entertainment for all the family as well as a host of impressive bargains and unbelievable discounts and lavish prizes.

Sharjah Ramadan Shopping Festival begins a few days before Ramadan and lasts for six to seven weeks. Shopping malls run special promotions, daily raffles are held and cultural and entertainment events are staged throughout the emirate. In accordance with the tenets of Islam, during the Festival, 20 per cent of revenues are donated to charity.
