Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has concluded financing arrangements worth Dh1.65 billion (US$450 million) with leading UAE banks and HSBC Bank Middle East for five new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Emirates will recruit 8,000 cabin crew

Emirates, which will begin receiving Airbus A380 super jumbos from April next year, will hire 8,000 new cabin crew for its rapidly expanding fleet, said a top official. UAE's aviation industry records year of growth

It was a busy year in the skies of the UAE. Air traffic recorded a 10.31 per cent jump last year, reaching 390,993 flights, well above the previous year's 354,426, according to the latest government statistics. This translates into a whopping daily average of 1,071 flights per day. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has opened an International Monitoring Office in Dubai its first in the Gulf and eighth in the world.
