ETISALAT yesterday announced a permanent reduction in international call rates and Wasel services starting tomorrow, making them among the lowest in the region. The UAE had nearly 820,000 cars and 2.4 million mobile phones at the end of last year. That works out to an average of one vehicle for every four persons and 60 mobiles for every 100 people here. The number of vehicles compares with around 745,000 at the end of 2001 and 673,000 at the end of 2000, one of the highest rates in the world. Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM) has issued a warning about a new virus - W32/[email protected] - that may pose a threat to Internet users.
