Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PrJsc (Yahsat), the UAE's first nationally-owned satellite operator and wholly-owned subsidiary of Mubadala, is approaching the financial market to raise US$1.2 billion to finance its satellite communications system. Emirates Telecommunications Corp (etisalat) said on Monday it had bought an additional 12 per cent in Atlantique Telecom, raising its stake in the Africa-focused company to 82 per cent. etisalat said yesterday it sold 43.75 million shares in Saudi affiliate Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), generating returns of Dh2.33 billion (US$634.3 million). Etisalat announced yesterday the preliminary financial results of 2007 for the period ending on 31st December. Net profits reached Dh7.297b, 25% growth over 2006 which recorded Dh5.860b.
