Five flights were diverted from Dubai International Airport and a runway was temporarily closed on Tuesday after an Emirates flight had to return back to the airport after takeoff, officials said. Emirates said flight EK087 bound for Zurich, Switzerland turned back shortly after takeoff "due to a warning indication from the forward cargo hold". The number of passengers using Abu Dhabi International Airport rose 10 per cent last month to 811,530 compared with 737,870 in the same period last year, according to figures released yesterday by Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC). Sharjah International Airport recorded an impressive 5, 280, 445 passengers in 2008 up by 22.11 per cent compared to year 2007 in which it registered 4, 320, 313 passengers.
