UAE mobile subscribers expand to 7.44m at the end of third quarter

The number of mobile subscribers in the UAE has expanded to 7.44 million at the end of the 
third quarter, depicting a net gain of 180,000 subscribers or 2.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 5.5 per cent year on year, in contrast to a loss of 81,000 in quarter-two of the year, says a report. etisalat has completed 60 per cent of its fibre-optic network nationwide and expects 90 per cent will be complete by early 2011, according to Chairman Mohammed Hassan Omran.
