The UAE non-oil foreign trade achieved a breakthrough growth of 22 per cent Y-o-Y in Jan. 2011. The preliminary statistical data of Federal Customs Authority (FCA), confirmed that the UAE non-oil foreign trade jumped Dh12.6 billion to Dh70.2 billion from Dh57.6 billion in the year-ago period. Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) issued its quarterly report for the commercial licenses in Abu Dhabi. Out of the total registered 104,372 licenses by end of March 2011, DED issued 2309 new licenses, renewed 18,354 and cancelled 746. During the first quarter, DED implemented more than 25840 site inspection visits all over the Emirate to protect consumers, brand owners and commercial agencies. Ministry of Foreign Trade said that UAE has achieved a US$9.5 Billion of surplus in its trade balance with Muslim countries last year as a result of registered improvements in non-oil trade of around 11.9 per cent between both sides from US$ 49.9 billion in 2009 to US$55.8 billion in 2010.
