Emirates Aluminium (Emal) has awarded a US$200 million (Dh734m) contract to a French company to scrub harmful pollutants from its emissions, the company said yesterday. The UAE manufacturing sector recorded a substantial growth of 23.6 per cent to touch Dh90.8 billion in 2007, compared to Dh73.4bn in 2006, according to a report. Dubai's cement imports surged 73.6% (1.256 million tonnes) in 2007 compared to previous year.
