Central Market
On Fourth Street between Sheikh Zayed 2nd. Street and Falah Road.

Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society Complex.
Open 0800-2400.
At end of Sheikh Zayed 2nd. Street, near Le Meridien hotel. A large busy centre, with a supermarket on the ground floor and food court on the top floor. Shops include clothing, toy, video and computer software outlets.

She-Zone
Open daily 0900-2300; 1700-2300 Fridays
Located in Khalidiya, this newly opened, exclusive ladies only shopping centre boasts a selection of high class boutiques, outlets for cosmetics and other beauty products, jewellery and home furnishings. There is the, also ladies only, Morita cinema (screening English films), Fourth Street cafe and a children's play area.

Fotouh Al Khair
Open daily 1000-2200.
Otherwise known as the Marks & Spencers building, located on the corner of Hamdan Street and Airport Road, this is one of Abu Dhabi's newest and largest shopping malls offering a wide range of brand label fashions for all the family. Also available are sportswear, toys, cosmetics and curios. There is a cafe and a shopper's restaurant.

British Homes Stores, Bhs
Open daily 1000-2200; Fridays 1700-2200.
On Hamdan Street next to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This is a small but quality shopping mall, which includes the well-known Bhs. Available here are both men and women's clothing, a travel centre and reasonably priced food at the ever popular patisserie cafe, La Boulanger.

On Hamdan Street at the junction with Fourth St.

Al Muhairy centre
An attractive new shopping centre due to open fully in summer 2000. Some stores are already in place. Open daily 1000-1300, 1700-2100; Fridays 1700-2100.

Al Ahlia Prisunic
Open daily 0930-2200; 1700-2200 Friday
Near Lamcy Department Store, off Khaleej Al Arabi Street. Curios, clothes and household effects are all stocked in this "one-stop" shop. A Herb and Honey Centre with natural healing products is a little bit different.

Al Falah Plaza
Open 0900-1400, 1630-2330. Closed between 1130 & 1630 on Fridays.
Behind East Road & Al Falah Street, near Habib Bank. Regarded as one of the cheapest shopping centres in town, but lacking most things designer. A cafe, music shop and all the usual outlets are present, with a ground floor supermarket.

Al Hana Shopping Centre
Open 0900-1300, 1700-2200 except Friday.
Corniche Road West between Khaleej Al Arabi (30th) & 32nd Streets. Designer-wear store, very selective, also here is a large music store. The pavement cafe can make a pleasant change.

Al Hosn Plaza
Open 1000-2200 daily; 1700-2200 Friday.
Junction of Sheikh Zayed 1st. Street with Khalid Bin Adbul Aziz St. (28th) in Radisson building. Clothes shops, Mexx and Clarks shoes, together with miscellaneous other stores, with a face-painting room for children, while you shop.

City Centre
Open 0800-1300, 1700-2000 daily but closed on Friday.
Hamdan Street opposite Crowne Plaza. Casual clothes and sports shops, electrical shops and so on, but no cafe.

Continent
Finally arriving in Abu Dhabi in early 2000, Continent is out of town down Airport Road, about 10-15 minutes drive from the Clock Tower at the corniche. The food supermarket is sizable, while the household section has most items, both large and small. Don't get lost.

Dana Plaza
Open 0930-1300 & 1700-2200 daily; closed Friday a.m.
In Khalidiya on Sheikh Zayed 1st. Street. Cosmetics, stationery, household goods, coffee shop and a discount floor (3rd floor).

Hamdan Centre
Open 1000-1330, 1700-2230 daily but closed Friday a.m.
Hamdan Street, near Novotel Centre hotel. Very busy most of the time. Sports stores, cheap shoes, boutiques, t-shirts and the multiplex Al Massa cinema (showing films in English).

Hamed Centre
Open 0900-1300, 1630-2230 Sat.-Thurs. Only some shops open on Friday.
Sheikh Zayed 2nd Street, near East Road. A wide range of outlets, from an Arabic music shop, to jewellery and well-priced casual wear. Coffee shop with good Arabic coffee.

Italian Shopping Centre
Open 1000-1300, 1700-2000 daily, closed Friday a.m.
Near Grand Continental Hotel on Bani Yas Street. The best variety of Italian goods anywhere in the capital and all under one roof. Also has a Chinese furniture section, including paintings, with the opportunity to have your portrait done at a sitting or from a photograph.

Khalifa Centre
Open 0830-1330, 1630-2230 daily, closed Friday a.m.
Tourist Club Area. Arabic souvenirs agogo. Incense burners, oils, perfumes and silverware as well as authentic carpets. Arabic music and ice-cream with Arabic flavours ! Recommended for a visit.

Lamcy Plaza
Open 0930-1400, 1700-2230 daily, except Friday 1500-2230.
Lamcy's is at the junction of Sheikh Zayed 1st. Street and Al Khaleej Al Arabi St. (30th). Men and women's clothing, the latter of a particularly wide range including expensive brand names, as well as foot-wear, make-up and a children's section are all to be found.

Liwa Centre
Open 0930-1300, 1600-2200 daily, but closed Friday a.m.
Hamdan Street next to Fourth Street. Jewellery, clothes, top of the range make-up and perfumes and a well-stocked book shop. Food court on the second level, plus coffee shop open until midnight.

Lulu Centre
Open 0930-1300, 1630-2230 Sat.-Thurs.
Salam Street next to Citibank. Regarded as having quality products, and lots of them, at some of the best prices in town. Electrical goods, cosmetics, stationery, men's suits, casual clothes, toys and much much more.

Madinat Zayed Shopping & Gold Centre
Open 1000-1300, 1700-2300 Sat.-Thurs.
Muroor road near the main Post Office. Reportedly one of the largest malls in thee Middle East, with space for about 400 shops. Most everything you could think of must be here somewhere. Electronic information stands help direct you. The gold centre has over 200 outlets, selling not just gold but pearls and diamonds, all at competitive prices.

Rotana Mall
Open 0900-1300, 1600-2200 daily, but closed Friday a.m
Rotana Mall is located behind Lamcy Plaza (Department Store) off Khaleej Al Arabi Street (30th Street) one block back from the sea. This is the place for home furnishings but with the usual range of other outlets.Tthe ever-popular Body Shop is located here.
