The UAE has spared no effort in empowering women and creating a supportive environment for them to contribute towards the development of the country, the Zayed Giving Initiative, ZGI has stated.

The Emirati woman has proven her ability, especially in the field of humanitarian and volunteering work, domestically and internationally, pioneering humanitarian work, as well as innovation and adoption of initiatives to serve humanity, the ZGI said in a report on the occasion of International Women's Day.

It stressed the accomplishments of the Emirati women, thanks to the vision President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Zayed Giving Initiative appreciated the course and legacy of the late the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founder of the UAE, who took a leading role in supporting women, involving them in all sectors, and making them equal partners alongside men in the process of nation building.

The report praised the role of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and the "Mother of the UAE," on continued support to Emirati woman in all fields, especially in humanitarian and volunteering work, which contributed effectively to reducing the suffering of needy people across the world.

This year's International Women's Day is special because it comes in the Year of Giving launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The report also highlights the announcement of H.H. Sheikha Fatima that the Emirati Woman celebrate this year under the logo: "Woman is a Partner in Good and Giving." This emblem comes is in line with the woman's ability to implement the directives of the leadership by spreading good everywhere, in the country and abroad, and helping those in need wherever they are.

Mouza Al Otaiba, member of the Trustees Council of the ZGI, said that over the past years, Emirati women had achieved a lot on the domestic and international stages and managed to deliver their humanitarian message to millions through volunteering work, forming an exceptional and innovative example of humanitarian giving by volunteering for million hours.

Emirati women were honoured with the Zayed Giving Humanitarian Awards and the Emirati Humanitarian Medal, in appreciation to their efforts and initiatives in the health sector, including supporting healthcare awareness and education programmes in many vital aspects and offering direct support for humanitarian causes, including to patients with limited income, establishing and founding clinics, health centres and mobile hospitals in many regions that lack these vital services.
