Tremor in Gulf of Oman

An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale occurred early morning Sunday in the Gulf of Oman, said the UAE National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology. The tremor which was "slightly felt" in parts of north eastern areas of the UAE, namely Khorfakkan and Fujairah, struck at 5:7 am, added the Centre in a statement. It said the earthquake is part of the normal seismic activity of the area and the UAE will not be affected. The same area was hit just on May 8th with a tremor measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale and was strongly felt in northern areas. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
