TCA Abu Dhabi team up with Emirates Park Zoo to make World Wildlife Day a roaring success

To celebrate World Wildlife Day, which will take place on March 3rd, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, has teamed up with Emirates Park Zoo to organise special activities to boost awareness about wildlife amongst the emirate's schoolchildren as well as UAE society in general, with a 50% discount for all admissions.

World Wildlife Day is a special initiative of the United Nations to celebrate and raise awareness of the world's wild animals and plants. This year it is running under the theme, ‘The Future of Wildlife is in our Hands', and aims to promote understanding of conservation on a local and global scale.

The world's wildlife is facing many challenges at the present time, with the biggest threats to wildlife being habitat loss as well as overgrazing, farming and development. Poaching and trafficking in wildlife driven by trans-national organised crime groups pose the most immediate threat to many iconic species.

Elephants, pangolins, rhinoceros , sharks, tigers and precious tree species are among the most critically poached and trafficked species around the world. To help tackle these issues, TCA Abu Dhabi's Corporate Social Responsibility team has agreed to collaborate with Emirates Park Zoo to put on a series of special activities and events for schoolchildren, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on the day itself.

These activities will include free education and entertainment shows such as Awareness Talks, Magic Shows, Parrot and Raptor Shows, African Drumming and Song and Performance shows. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
