The Arabian Saluki Centre, Abu Dhabi, announced Sunday its 'Second Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest' to be held during this year's Abu Dhabi 2007 International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.
All owners in the UAE and GCC countries are requested to register their Arabian Salukis with the Arabian Saluki Centre for the show which will take place from Oct. 24 to 27 in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 11am to 10pm.
Hamad Al Ghanem, breeder, registrar general and director of the Arabian Saluki Centre said, "The "Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest" will give Saluki owners an opportunity to showcase their Arabian Salukis on an international stage."
"The contest will be attended by an internationally recognised judge, who will judge upon the characteristics and standard of the breed, namely head, general structure, coat, movement and general impression. The winners of the Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest will be rewarded with valuable prizes," he added.
He said that he is pleased to organise the Second Arabian Saluki Beauty Contest since last year's contest saw an impressive number of more than 100 Arabian Salukis attending. "The five day event attracted some thousand visitors and Saluki lovers from the UAE and other GCC countries," Al Ghanem observed.
Moreover, the show gives the opportunity to highlight not only the incredible characteristics of the breed itself, but to create public awareness of the proud cultural heritage, especially for the younger generations.
The Arabian Saluki Centre, established in 2002 by Hamad Al Ghanem with the support of the Emirates Falconers' Club, commits itself to both the preservation of the pure breed Arabian Saluki and the traditional way of the Arabian Hunting as an essential part of Cultural Heritage. Arabian Salukis originating from the Arabian Peninsula are one of the world's oldest breeds and can be traced back almost 7-11,000 years. (The Gulf Today)
