The UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, has distributed humanitarian assistance to refugees to refugees in the Ambara refugee camp in Mauritania. The RCS distributed 60 tonnes of various relief items, including food items, clothing and other children's needs to the refugees, who are seeking refuge in the camp from a number of neighbouring African countries.
According to Saleh Mohammed Al Mulla, RCS' Deputy Secretary General for Relief and Projects Affairs, the humanitarian programme for the refugees was implemented in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Nouakchott and the Mauritanian Red Crescent Society. The UAE RCS and its Mauritanian counterpart signed recently a memorandum of understanding in the area of humanitarian activities. Based on the agreement, the two organisations will work closely in Mauritania to implement the UAE RCS' humanitarian and relief programmes in Mauritania. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
