Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research inaugurated in Abu Dhabi yesterday Future Capitals Summit which will run till Jan. 15th.
In his inaugural address to the summit, Sheikh Nahyan noted that fewer capitals in the world will have the ability to innovate and maintain vigorous growth with the aim of creating prosperity. He also stressed the need for partnership between private and public sector institutions.
"In Abu Dhabi, you will not only find a strong commitment to be one of those future world capitals, but also strategies and plans which the city has put in place for making this goal a reality", he said.
Sheikh Nahyan added: " In fact, if you study Abu Dhabi and its plans of the future, you will immediately encounter the themes of Sustainable development and environmental protection, Knowledge economy and economic diversification, Private investments, and strong public/private partnerships, Infrastructure development, Renewable energy, education, health and human development".
Sheikh Nahyan paid tribute to President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his visionary leadership saying: "We are indebted to both the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, and the Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. They recognize the need for continual development and change. Under their leadership, Abu Dhabi is instituting appropriate structures to promote strong economic growth and gain competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
