Abu Dhabi General Services Company "Musanada" has revealed that Packages 3 and 4 of infrastructure works have been commenced at the Emirati Neighbourhood in Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi as planned.

This comes as part of Musanada's efforts to realise the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and implement the directions of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as part of the key objectives of Abu Dhabi Plan aiming to provide sustainable infrastructure serving the community and economy of the Emirate in line with the best international standards.

"The AED2.4 billion Madinat Zayed infrastructure project consists of five packages including roads and infrastructure works, three of these packages are in the Emirati Neighbourhood," said Eng. Ali Al Haj Al Mehairbi, Musanada's Acting Executive Director – Building Construction Management Division.

"The work is in full swing in Packages 3 and 4 with the percentage of completion reaching 3.5 percent and 3.6 percent respectively. Preparations are currently under way to consecutively launch all the project works, with completion periods ranging between 14 and 45 months, as the expected completion date will be end of 2019," he explained.

"The project is not limited to infrastructure construction in respect of the Emirati Neighbourhood, but it also includes improving the soil under the residential plots, which will facilitate to a great extent construction of residential units for UAE nationals, saving cost and time, and will help preserve resources and the environment in line with Abu Dhabi Plan and in accordance with the direction of our prudent leadership," added Al Mehairbi.

The construction and building works in the project include preparation of the infrastructure, road network and utility routes, as well as 2,755 residential plots, 37 mosques, 47 gardens and 13 schools for all educational stages, all within a residential compound extending over 1,401 acres including facilities and requiring construction specifications in line with latest international standards, to serve approximately 22 thousand UAE nationals, which is the expected number of the population of the Emirati Neighbourhood following completion of construction works.

Al Mehairbi explained that the total size of the residential plots is 1,401 acres, of which there are 510 acres under Package 4 that include 1,196 residential plots allocated for villas and 8841 acres in Package 3 that include 1,559 plots also allocated for villas.

The project's preparatory works also include land treatment, levelling, main roads, local roads, potable water system, storm water, sewerage, irrigation and firefighting systems, power cables, 22KV power substations, gas and telecommunication ducts. The designs of all these works have been duly approved by the competent authorities and services providers, together with the complementary civil works, in consideration of latest sustainability and environmental safety standards, he added.

On the other hand, Afraa Al Hajeri, Infrastructure Section Head at Abu Dhabi Housing Authority stated that the infrastructure project at the Emirati Neighbourhood in Madinat Zayed comprises high level specifications and standards, in line with high quality and sustainable systems, as the design criteria that provide for effective and cost-effective use of lands have been followed, leading to creation of an integrated community with all the services and utilities that cater for all the needs of the local residents there.

It is noteworthy that the Emirati Neighbourhood is one of the strategic housing projects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as it will help provide advanced infrastructure to accommodate the population and urban growth. The project has been designed subject to carefully-devised plans that has taken into account future population growth in Madinat Zayed.

Accordingly, it has been planned to develop access and exit intersections leading to and from the project in line with the studies developed during the workshops held between Musanada and its strategic partners in the government sector.
