Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, in cooperation with the Department of Transport, DOT, has announced that the work of the Abu Dhabi International Airport Road network and interchange is progressing in line with the schedule, which will allow the delivery of the project during the fourth quarter of 2017 as planned.

"The project is an initiative of DOT's 2014-2019 strategic plan, aiming to enable the transport sector to effectively and efficiently serve the economic sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi," said Faisal Ahmed Al Suwaidi, DOT's General Director of Main Roads. "The design work was completed back in 2013 and the construction work was later awarded by Musanada by tender."

The project aims to connect the new passenger terminal of Abu Dhabi International Airport to the E10 carriageway, providing direct access to and from the capital, Dubai and Al Ain, in addition to the widening of the E10 Abu Dhabi to Al Shahama Road from its existing 4 lanes to 5 lanes in both directions, together with the widening of the Presidential Flight road.

"With an 11.85 percent actual percentage of completion to date, all works are progressing as per the plan carefully developed by Musanada to deliver the project in accordance with highest international standards and specifications and as per the agreed schedule," said Omar Matar Al Mansouri, Musanada's Acting Roads Director.

Al Mansouri reiterated Musanada's constant commitment to the best sustainable green standards, by making sure that the project follows best practices to preserve natural resources and protect the environment. Several workshops and training sessions were held for the various team members, addressing sustainability-related principles and guidelines necessary to ensure implementation of the sustainability programme mandated by the government of Abu Dhabi.

Al Mansouri said that there was close cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Airports Company and all concerned authorities to ensure adherence to the agreed schedule, and that the project would be delivered as planned, i.e. simultaneously with the opening of the new Abu Dhabi International Airport Mid-Field Terminal.

He praised and highlighted the efforts made by the various teams who efficiently managed to overcome all the challenges facing the project, whether those related to the design and associated approvals, or to dealing with 'in situ' soil, to ensure the works progress as planned and in accordance with the highest standards. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/general/1395286609192.html
