Mohammed issues law to set up Dubai Women and Children Foundation
posted on 09/07/2007

Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, has issued a law setting up a special charitable body to care for women and children who suffered any form of inhumane practices in the Emirate of Dubai.
According to the law, the Dubai Women and Children Foundation will offer its services to all eligible nationals living in the Emirate of Dubai by providing for them the necessary assistance they need, including shelter and health and psychological care, as well as the necessary counselling on how best to solve their problem.
The new establishment will also offer rehabilitation services to enable this category of people reintegrate in the society and to successfully solve their problems by helping them find alternative source of income for their sustenance.
The Foundation will have a board which shall run and supervise its day-to-day activities and make the appropriate decisions that would lead to achieving its objectives. A chief executive will also be appointed to take care of these responsibilities.
Sources of revenue for the Foundation shall include a local government financial support in the form of budgetary allocation, grants, gifts and donations from governmental and non-governmental organisations. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
