The Ministry of Public Works had finished nine vital projects across the UAE in 2015.

Six of the projects were part of the Ministry's Investment programme, which included two projects for the Ministry of Health, three for the Ministry of Education and one for the Ministry of Interior.

The three other projects were service projects which were part of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's initiatives.

This year, the Ministry said, it is working on 11 projects for the same entities, ten of which are part of the investment programme of the ministry and one that has external funding.

The Ministry of Public Works has also completed six housing complexes, in addition to 11 stand-alone houses in the past year, as part of Shaikh Khalifa's initiatives. The ministry is now working on another 26 housing complexes in different emirates, as well as 148 stand-alone houses.

These houses are part of the UAE's efforts to provide adequate housing for its citizens and ensuring their happiness.

This ministry is in the process of studying and planning seven new roads in different Emirates at the cost of Dh780 million.

The road projects are in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, and aim to ease traffic between the emirates.

The seven projects will include developing the Sharjah-Al Dhaid road, renovating Al Ittihad road in Ras Al Khaimah and adding 14km, and the extension of Emirates Road from Al Tuwain to link it to the Ras Al Khaimah Ring Road.

Other projects include the first phase of the Kalba Ring Road and connections to Al Hail, developing the Al Sha'am Al Dara Road, the second phase of the Khorfakkan West Ring Road (E199) and improving the road between Al Tawain roundabout and Emirates road, which is in the third phase.

Six roads are expected to be finished by this year, which include the second phase of improving the Umm Al Qaiwain entrance, which is estimated to cost Dh111 million .

In 2015, the ministry finished nine road projects, most of which were improvement projects, or existing roads in various emirates including Ajman, Umm Al Qaiwain, Dibba, to name a few.

The ministry's smart application was also made available last year, and the ministry announced that they are at 100 per cent smart transformation.

A unified call centre number, 600500500, was established to receive all calls to the Ministry, including all its branches and departments. Another hotline, 8006679, is available for any enquiries concerning roads or housing and to register complaints and concerns. – Gulf News -
