Matar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads '&' Transport Authority (RTA) and H.E. Ms Anne-Marie Idrac, French Minister for Foreign Trade discussed yesterday bilateral cooperation and exchange of expertise between RTA and French corporations working in the transport sector.
The French minister, along with a delegation accompanying her, was received by Al Tayer and other officials at the Nakheel Harbour '&' Towers Station of the Dubai Metro.
Al Tayer briefed the visiting delegation on the 74 km long Dubai Metro and the 47 stations across the Dubai city. Since its inauguration 56 days ago, the Dubai Metro has lifted over three million passengers, noted Al Tayer.
The French minister and her delegation toured the Nakheel Harbour '&' Tower Station, which has a capacity to handle approximately 11 thousand passengers per hour. Later they boarded the train travelling to the Financial Centre Station.
At a meeting held at the Emirates Towers, Al Tayer hailed the historical relations between the UAE and France, as well as the increasing volume of bilateral trade between the two countries and the joint investments in various fields.
