HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs yesterday presided over the first meeting of the board of trustees of the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), held at the Presidential Palace. The board approved the Centre's bylaws and organisation structure. It has decided to endorse appointment of Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous, the Centre's Executive Director, as the UAE's Permanent Representative to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

During the meeting, Sheikh Mansour stressed the NCMS role as the sole authority on meteorology, as per the federal decree. He said the Centre's establishment emanated from the keenness of the country's leadership to intensify preparations for emergency and natural disasters. The Centre's board of trustees is headed by Sheikh Mansour. Other members are Rashid Saeed Al Ameri, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman, and Abdullah Ahmed Al Mandous, Lt. Colonel Abdullah Mohammed Saeed Al Dhahnani and Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Shareef.
