Travellers through Abu Dhabi International Airport will have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of Abu Dhabi's past. Rare shots dating as early back as the 1930s are on display at the airport, alongside images of some of the major landmarks of present time Abu Dhabi. The "Abu Dhabi, the ancient and the modern" exhibition is organized by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), in partnership with Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO).
"At a time when Abu Dhabi is heading towards yet another spectacular era in its development, a look into the past would tell vividly how far we have come. And this cannot be demonstrated more eloquently than through pictures," Mohammed Al Katheeri, ADAC Deputy Chief Operating Officer, said. The exhibition features some rare pictures of the early oil explorations, and the beginnings of construction work on what was to become some of Abu Dhabi's landmarks, such as the Al Maqtaa Bridge, the Hilton Abu Dhabi Hotel, etc. The exhibition runs through the 10th of February, 2008 in the hallway leading to the transit area of Terminal 1. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
