H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Honorary Chairman of the UAE Football Association, said the acceptance of the UAE's bid to host the FIFA Club World Cups in 2017 and 2018, along with the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, confirms the county's ability to organise and host major world sports championships.

'The UAE will take the world by surprise and beat all expectations when it hosts the three prominent world sports events, which will add another feather to the UAE's cap,' he said.

Sheikh Hazza has sent warm congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of Emirates, and people of the UAE, on this well-deserved honour, which once again proves the UAE's readiness to host these international championships with its unprecedented organisation.

Sheikh Hazza said the acceptance of its bid to host the FIFA Club World Cups in 2017 and 2018, for the second time after it organised the World Cups in 2009-2010, follows within days winning the bid to host the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

The win, he noted, is a source of pride throughout the Arab World and its impact will go beyond the sports sector to underpinning international confidence in the UAE, its leadership and progress.

He also underscored the determination of the UAE leadership to provide the UAE sports sector will all resources to allow its athletes to participate in international competitions. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
