The GCC Foreign Ministers held a meeting yesterday evening with Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan on the sidelines of their 108th meeting, currently in session in Jeddah.
The UAE delegation to the meeting is led by Foreign minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, Qatar's First Deputy Prime Minister '&' Foreign Minister, opened the meeting with a speech in which he welcomed the Turkish Foreign Minister and praised the progressive GCC-Turkish relations.
During the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the strategic dialogue which is aimed at developing positive relations and multi-lateral cooperation, as well as devising an advisory mechanism on political, economic, defence, security and cultural spheres.
Under the MoU, the two sides will hold high level meetings annually to exchange views about ties and other regional issues. The next meeting is scheduled to be held in Turkey. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
