CAIRO: Dr. Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, received Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council, FNC, during the Al Azhar International Peace Conference, which concluded in Cairo on Friday.

Dr. Al-Tayyeb welcomed Dr. Al Qubaisi and commended the speech she delivered at the conference's opening session, where she urged the world's leaders to come together to fight terrorism and shape a peaceful future for the next generations.

Dr. Al Qubaisi emphasised Al Azhar's role as a key religious institution that advocates and promotes the values of tolerance, peace, centrism, moderation, respect for women and dialogue among different beliefs.

The two sides also stressed the importance of projecting the image of Islam and its tolerant teachings, marred by terrorism.

Dr. Al-Tayyeb praised the UAE's stances towards their Arab brethren and its continuous support for Egypt and Al Azhar.
