Call for e-link among government bodies
posted on 23/07/2008

The mandate of the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Committee (ADSIC) is to provide an electronic link between the various local government bodies and the federal government and to facilitate procedures for all customers. This was stated by experts who attended the electronic government forum yesterday that highlighted the latest developments and plans of Abu Dhabi Government to facilitate its services to customers.
ADSIC is currently leading more than 75 e-government projects. These include the new contact centre, the upcoming Abu Dhabi Government network, the Abu Dhabi portal, and the government data centre.
The electronic government portal aims to make government services accessible to all residents of the city.
The electronic services provided by the portal include paying of traffic fines, obtaining IDs for residents, applying for residency cancellation, obtaining a fishing licence, accessing information about vacant properties and their locations, and filing a complaint about hospital services in Abu Dhabi.
In addition, the Abu Dhabi Business Gateway, also part of the government portal, provides useful information to businesses and aims to simplify their access and interaction to government agencies and services.
The gateway explains the different licences and permits required to operate in Abu Dhabi and guides you through the relevant application processes. During the forum, ADSIC launched the second version of the IT Architecture and Standards reference document, the IT Planning and Management Toolkits, and announced the government's plan to launch a new Information Security Programme.
All of these initiatives were designed to achieve ADSIC's strategy of providing government service delivery from a customer's perspective, explained ADSIC's representatives. ADCIS is a government body created in October 2005. Its role is to develop, drive and support various initiatives within the government to transform government services in Abu Dhabi. – Khaleej Times
