Bin Sa'ed meets with UAE delegates at Earth Summit

Saif Saeed bin Sa'ed, Foreign Ministry Under Secretary, met in Johannesburg yesterday with members of the UAE delegation to the World Summit on Sustainable Development. Bin Sa'ed, who is the head of the UAE National Committee for Sustainable Development, heading the UAE delegation to the Johannesburg Summit, reiterated, during the meeting, the need for all related bodies representing the UAE officially to coordinate their stands on the agenda and issues to be discussed at the Summit.



He urged them to actively participate in all the meetings of the various committees to promote the country's civilisational achievements, particularly the UAE's unique achievements in the field of development and environmental protection under the wise leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Jasim Mohammed Al Samhan, Director of the Foreign Ministry's Department of Organisations and Conferences, also reiterated the need for close contact among members of the UAE delegation and for active participation in the various group works, including the Group of 77, the Arab Group and the OPEC.



He pointed out that the working program and declarations that would be issued at the end of the Summit represent the wish of the international community to find satisfactory formula of cooperation capable of creating an international environment which will serve the interest of both the rich and the poor countries of the world. A number of UAE officials took turn to deliver short speeches at the meeting, which was attended by Ali Thani Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to South Africa and members of the UAE delegation to the summit.
