CAIRO: The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has strongly condemned yesterday's terrorist attack that resulted in the wounding of the UAE Ambassador in Afghanistan and the death of a number of Emiratis who were carrying out a humanitarian, development and educational mission in Afghanistan.
"The Arab League firmly stands with the UAE against these cowardly terrorist acts," he said in a statement.
Aboul Gheit extended sincere condolences to the leadership, government and people of the UAE, and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant solace and fortitude to the families of the martyrs.
Mahmoud Afifi, Spokesman of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, described the attack as 'a heinous crime'.
He highlighted that terrorism is a growing danger that targeted innocent civilians while performing humanitarian missions in Afghanistan as part of the UAE's significant support to reconstruction in Afghanistan and efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and living conditions of the Afghan people.
The spokesman further stressed that perpetrators of the attack should be hunted and that international efforts should be intensified to combat terrorism and take further measures to achieve more efficient and serious results in countering the abominable phenomenon jeopardising the security and stability of society. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395305761838.html
