Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, has announced that the dual carriageway widening project of the 12 km-long Seih Assalam Road has so far reached 40% of completion, and is set for opening in December.

Al Tayer made this statement during a site tour of the project where he reviewed road construction and lighting works, and the shifting of power cables, water lines and the rainwater drainage network. The project encompasses broadening the existing road stretching from Bab Al Shams Hotel and the Dubai International Endurance City to the roundabout of the Cycling Rest Point on Al Qudra Road to a two-lanes motorway in each direction.

"Three new roundabouts will be constructed at intersection points. The scope of works include street lighting, constructing a storm-water network, protecting or shifting the existing utility lines in some areas, erecting metal rails on the median to fend off casual U-turns, repainting ground markings, and conserving the existing trees," Al Tayer added. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -
