Ajman yesterday signed a Dh815 million finance agreement on sewerage system. His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, yesterday signed an amended agreement of the sewerage system project finance with France's Violia and Belgium's BESEX companies.

According to the agreement, work on the sewage project to be completed within 33 months. The financial support agreement confirmed that the financiers and partners would provide the required amount to complete the project. Shaikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Municipality and Planning Department, said the agreement would ensure that all areas of Ajman would be included in the network, as the emirate is in desperate need now, due to its expansion and development, which resulted in big amounts of sewage water that must be treated and re-used in irrigation.

The Municipality will be supervising the two companies working on the project, he added. Work on the project was stopped earlier, as some property owners failed to pay their connection fees. This resulted in the project's financing being cut off by the banks, and the withdrawal of one of the major companies executing the project. (The Gulf News)
