The Abu Dhabi City Municipality recently participated in the annual Geological Day held by the UAE University, Al Ain, in its capacity as a Gold Sponsor. The civic body showcased its key projects and achievements in streamlining spatial data as demonstrated in the Monitoring And Management Of The Seismic Risks System in Abu Dhabi Emirate, and the Geo-Technology Management System.

Through its stand at the accompanying exhibition held on the sidelines of the Geological Day, the Municipality briefed students and visitors on its key achievements in establishing a spatial database and supporting e-services delivery through a number of projects in its endeavours to upgrade geographical information systems, survey, and the addressing systems, linked to the priority of boosting sustainable urban development under the vision of the Municipal System, which in turn is aimed at realising sustainable development and enhancing the quality of living standards in Abu Dhabi Emirate.

The projects of the Spatial Data Division at the Abu Dhabi City Municipality contributed to providing a strategic stock of information and geographical data, which supported decision makers and the sweeping development drive. Such projects constitute a solid base for carrying the development plans and projects at world-class standards, besides addressing the needs and priorities of all departments across Abu Dhabi Emirate.

Khalfan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Acting Executive Director of Town Planning Sector, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said, "The Municipality's participation in Geological Day is part of its efforts to boost the strategic partnerships, share expertise and showcase its achievement of the spatial data project, which matches reality with the database. In turn, this will ultimately set a base for making plans, analysis and various designs besides taking strategic decisions in support of the business of various government units as well as strategic partners. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
