Abu Dhabi Police will be patrolling the streets beginning next month to confiscate motor vehicles older than twenty years. The move comes in line with the new traffic regulations to scrap old vehicles, with an exception to the vintage cars.
From 1st December this year, the Traffic and Licensing department will stop registering vehicles older than 20 years, asserted Director of Abu Dhabi Traffic department Col. Hamad Adeel Al Shamisi.
Al Shamisi said that the regulation is implemented to protect safety of passengers and the public, as studies have proved that over 30pc of all the traffic accidents are caused by old vehicles and various defects in them.
He called on all the vehicles owners to abide by the rule, the aim of which is to protect lives and property of people. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
