Ali Saif Sultan Al Awani, UAE Ambassador To Pakistan, met in Islamabad yesterday with Chowdhary Mukhtar Ahmed, Pakistani Defence Minister and conveyed to him greetings of Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and General H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Zayed Charity delegation arrives in Tanzania to conduct free heart surgeries posted on 12/10/2008
A charity delegation consisting of cardiac surgeons from UAE and other countries has arrived in the Tanzanian capital of Dar es Salam to conduct free heart surgeries for hundreds of patients here.
The delegation sent by the Zayed Charity Initiative will perform open-heart surgeries for those who are not able to incur the expenses of it due to poverty. There are several men, women and children in Tanzania who silently suffer the fatal disease due to lack of resources to treat it.

Banks in UAE enjoy strong financial position - UAE Central Bank posted on 12/10/2008
The Governor of the UAE Central Bank HE Sultan Bin Nasser Al Suwaidi asserted that the national and foreign banks in UAE enjoy a strong financial position.

New legal edict on patent protection in UAE posted on 12/10/2008
The legal period of protection valid for a patent will be ten years in UAE, the Legislation and Legal edicts directorate has resolved.
Giving its opinion on an issue raised by a government authority, the Directorate affiliated to the Ministry of Justice said that the Law No. 17 (Year 2002) nullified the previous Federal Law No.44 (Year 1992), which stipulated a validity period of five years on protected patents.

Pollution control plan for UAE on cards posted on 12/10/2008
A pollution control plan is on the anvil and will be submitted to the Federal National Council for approval before the end of the year, according to Minister of Environment and Water Dr Ahmed bin Fahad.

A film production arm recently set up by the government of Abu Dhabi said on Saturday it is teaming with National Geographic to make movies.
National Geographic Entertainment and Imagenation Abu Dhabi said they will spend US$100 million to produce 10 to 15 films over the next five years.
