 Air Arabia plans daily service to Riyadh, Jeddah

Air Arabia has announced that, effective September 16, it will fly daily to Riyadh and Jeddah from the carrier's primary hub in Sharjah, UAE. Currently, Air Arabia flies six times a week to Riyadh and four times to Jeddah. Under the expanded flight schedule, daily flights will depart Sharjah at 17:20pm and arrive in Riyadh at 18:00pm . Daily return flights will depart Riyadh at 18:40pm and arrive in Sharjah at 21:20pm .
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays flights will depart Sharjah at 8:30am

 Abu Dhabi Airport welcomes AirBlue

Abu Dhabi International Airport welcomed the maiden commercial flight into the UAE capital by AirBlue, Pakistan's largest privately-operated airline, as its aircraft touched down at 12:00hrs local time Sunday. Initially set to operate four flights per week from Lahore to Abu Dhabi, AirBlue officials at the reception ceremony, held in honour of the occasion, signalled that it proposes to increase these frequencies, in line with demand, to a twice daily service in the near future.

Emirates Airline has revised its fares for tickets issued in Middle East and GCC markets to over 20 cities, reflecting the recent softening of fuel prices.

 New Emirates SkyCargo cover to keep freight cool

Emirates SkyCargo has teamed up with a leading US research institute to develop a protective cover for the shipment of temperature-sensitive goods. The low-cost, lightweight, breathable and reusable White Cover is designed to shield shipments from heat during door-to-door transport.

 Etihad Moscow flights to launch in December

Etihad Airways will launch flights to the Russian capital, Moscow, from its Abu Dhabi home base on Monday 1 December 2008. Flights to the Kazakhstan capital, Almaty, will commence on the following day, Tuesday 2 December. Emirates airline showcased its new, double-decker Airbus A380 in San Francisco and Los Angeles over the last two days as part of a number of exclusive tours of the aircraft that were planned for the United States.  Etihad becomes first Gulf airline to fly to Belarus

Etihad Airways became the first airline from the Gulf region to fly to Belarus this week when the Abu Dhabi-based carrier launched a twice-weekly service to the country's capital, Minsk. The inaugural Abu Dhabi to Minsk flight on Tuesday 5 August was met on arrival with a traditional 'water-arch' provided by the airport authorities as it taxied to its parking bay.

FlyDubai has hired the former chief of the defunct US-based Skybus Airlines to oversee plans for the mid-2009 launch of Dubai's new budget carrier. Joining as chief operating officer, Kenneth Gile will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the airline.  Emirates airline considers more services to US cities

Emirates airline, the UAE's national carrier, said yesterday it will operate the world's largest passenger aircraft three times a week on its New York-Dubai route (EK202/EK201) on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
"After eventually being incorporated in Emirates' twice-daily service to New York, the quieter, greener aircraft will be deployed on the London Heathrow route from 1st December and on the Sydney and Auckland services from February next year," it added in a press release.

 Air Arabia net profit soars to Dh160 million in first half of 2008, up 39 per cent

Air Arabia announced yesterday its financial results for the period ending June 30, 2008, demonstrating continued superior performance and ongoing organic growth. The company's net profit for the first half of this year stood at Dh160 million, an increase of 39 per cent compared to Dh115 million for the first six months of last year. Air Arabia's net profit for the second quarter of this year reached Dh82 million, up 14 per cent compared to Dh71.7 million for the second quarter of 2007.
